You can make the difference this spring— please do!

We make a difference! Support SR with a one-time or monthly contribution today!

Dear Street Rooters,

A donation to Street Roots means an investment in quality journalism, improving individual’s quality of life both through the vendor program, advocacy, and the Rose City Resource Guide.

Street Roots, like many non-profits is experiencing a challenging year. The organization and its supporters are being hit upside the head with one of the worst recessions in our history. While we struggled at times last year, the organization battled through.

Saying that, our current vendor program is made up of some of the proudest and hardest working people on the streets – many of whom face personal challenges that for most people would be overwhelming. Take a look at a recent photo project that asks what’s important to our vendors!

The newspaper continues to win prestigious awards for our quality journalism. Our organizing is high profile, ambitious and successful.

We have multiple challenges and opportunities in front of us: we have to move beyond just getting by hand to mouth and work towards building on a foundation that we have worked hard to develop during the past decade. The grassroots donor support that makes up a significant portion of our operating budget is what makes us able to accomplish putting out a jam-packed newspaper every two weeks, and putting thousands of dollars into the hands of people experiencing homelessness and poverty to improve their individual lives, collectively.

This funding model offers us enormous independence, and with that, a large capacity for fearless advocacy and investigative journalism.

We are working hard to create a future for Street Roots that takes us thoughtfully into the next decade. With your help we are taking our work to the next level. Please consider a donation this spring. It means making the difference.

Give today!

Sincerely,

Israel Bayer

Executive Director
